Equipment: a resilient start to the year

At the start of the year, equipment sales by Seimat members were down 21% in volume and 14% in value, compared with the same period in 2023. However, this decline should be put into perspective, given the record level of the 1st quarter of 2023, which ranks among the all-time highs after 2019. Over 12 months, sales are down 8% compared with the same period to the end of March 2023. These results are down -3% on the historical average for the 2018 - 2023 period, underlining a certain resilience in a context of fluctuations. Seimat members estimate a 15% drop in activity for 2024 as a whole. However, they remain optimistic about the market's ability to stabilize. While the situation remains delicate in the building sector, there are positive signs in the public works sector, which remains buoyant.

Seimat, the French association of construction equipment companies, represents 85% of the construction equipment market in France.
