Potain: topless cranes for demanding jobsites

Multi-Crane, one of the Netherlands' leading tower crane rental specialists, deployed six Topless Potain tower cranes on a 10-building residential construction project in Zaandam, near Amsterdam. The cramped site required meticulous planning of crane positioning, hook heights and overhangs. Top slewing cranes proved indispensable, given these constraints. Their task was to lift and position various materials, such as precast concrete, formwork, floor panels and steel structures, with great precision. Multi-Crane, whose rental fleet mainly comprises Potain MDT topless tower cranes equipped with CCS (Crane Control System), deployed three MDT 319s (12 t. max. capacity), two MDT 389s (16 t. max. capacity) and one MDT 308 A (12 t. max. capacity). They were configured on this site with different hook heights, from 35 m to 75.6 m, and boom lengths varying between 35 and 50 m. "De Zaanse Helden's confined space called for innovative solutions. Our Potain MDT topless tower cranes were ideal, thanks to their ease of assembly, excellent maneuverability and compactness. Their ability to operate effectively in confined spaces enabled us to maximize lifting capacity and efficiency, contributing to the progress and success of the project," explained Ralph Breijer, CEO of Multi-Crane.

Construction of this residential (607 units) and commercial complex, with solar panels and green roofs on the buildings, which began in 2021, is due for completion this year.
