The new Actros L design

Launched in 2021, the Actros L has become the spearhead of the Mercedes-Benz diesel truck range. Its new version, now available to order, features the new ProCabin (unveiled at the world premiere of the battery-electric eActros 600), whose elongated shape and aerodynamics save up to 3% fuel. Inside this new cab (available in Stream, Big or Giga versions), driver comfort has been optimized. From April 2025, the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 will also be available, with a revamped menu, voice control, further enhanced connectivity and new applications such as Connected Traffic Warnings. The OM471 (3rd generation) 12.8-liter engine is designed to reduce total cost of ownership.

Advanced security

The new Actros L also stands out for its advanced safety features, which surpass the requirements of the future General Safety Regulation (GSR) that will come into force in July 2024, providing for the mandatory integration of driver aids to enhance road safety. Daimler Truck has developed a new electronic platform which, by combining radar and camera data, offers an expanded view to the front and sides of the vehicle. This platform processes data 20 times faster and, thanks to six specific sensors, provides 270-degree coverage around the vehicle, significantly improving the ability of assistance systems to prevent accidents.

The sixth generation of Active Brake Assist (ABA), Daimler Truck's emergency braking assistant, is now capable of automated maximum braking to a complete stop at speeds of up to 60 km/h before passing oncoming traffic or other road users in the same lane.

The 2nd-generation ASGA (Active Sideguard Assist) system uses six sensors to provide enhanced surveillance around the vehicle. It proactively warns the driver of potential hazards to prevent incidents, covering an extended area around the vehicle at speeds of up to 30 km/h. In the event of failure to respond to alerts, it can even stop the vehicle automatically, surpassing future regulatory requirements. In addition, it offers an intelligent lane-change warning function, based on the vehicle's position in the lane.

Digital solutions

Finally, the new Actros L is enhanced by comprehensive digital solutions and services via TruckLive, offering free access to connectivity services that can be integrated on platforms such as MyTruckPoint. These digital tools, including maintenance management and Live Traffic for optimized route planning, aim to improve vehicle efficiency and availability. New connected services such as Over-the-Air and Service24h Connected updates are also available, with more to come. At the same time, Premium Fleetboard telematics services offer advanced fleet management, enabling analysis of the Actros L's technical data and driving characteristics, helping managers to optimize fuel consumption, minimize wear and tear, increase vehicle utilization and improve the CO2 footprint, thus contributing to sustainable fleet profitability.

The new Actros L will go into production in December.
