CMA CGM joins Volvo and Renault in creating electric vans

CMA CGM has joined the Flexis SAS joint venture, founded by Volvo Group and Renault Group, dedicated to the development of a "revolutionary" new generation of electric vans. CMA CGM, through its Pulse energy fund, is taking a 10% stake and plans to invest up to 120 million euros by 2026. Renault and Volvo, each with a 45% stake, will invest up to 300 million euros over three years. Flexis SAS thus combines the expertise of three industrial leaders with the agility of a start-up.
The vehicles will be assembled on a new "skateboard"-type platform dedicated to 100% electric light commercial vehicles, offering great modularity for different body types. Adopting the new connected electronics platform, the vehicle will feature new activity management functions, to reduce overall operating costs for logistics operators by up to 30%. This new generation of models will be produced at Renault Group's Sandouville plant, an expert in the manufacture of light commercial vehicles, which will be recruiting 550 people over the next four years.
