Iveco Group recycles its electric batteries with BASF

Iveco Group has chosen BASF to recycle the lithium-ion batteries used in its electric vehicles. BASF, which recently inaugurated Europe's first materials production and battery recycling center in Schwarzheide, Germany, will oversee the recycling process in Europe, from collection to the mechanical transformation of batteries into "black mass", enabling the extraction of critical raw materials such as nickel, cobalt and lithium.
This collaboration is in line with Iveco's circular economy strategy, which focuses on the repair, refurbishment, reuse and recycling of batteries to extend their life and reduce their environmental impact. This partnership aims to create a circular economy, reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to Iveco's goal of achieving zero net carbon emissions by 2040.
