Scania launches production of battery-electric trucks

Presented in June 2022, Scania's new generation of battery-electric trucks (BEV) is now entering production at the Södertälje plant in Sweden. These are trucks equipped with R and S cabs and engine power of 400 or 450 kW. This new generation of regional trucks has a GVWR of up to 64 tonnes, a range of 390 kilometers and a load capacity of 375 kW, with power levels of 400 or 450 kW (approx. 610 hp). They are available as rigids and tractors.

Earlier this year, Scania introduced its Scania Charging Access service, now operational and offering access to a Europe-wide charging network in 12 countries, with charging points graded according to their suitability for trucks. "The fact that some customers are cautious and limit themselves to ordering a few trucks for their fleet is completely understandable, as they want to test these solutions first. But with our growing portfolio and expanding infrastructure, Scania's goal of selling half its total truck volume in Europe in electric versions by 2030 is definitely within reach," says Fredrik Allard, senior vice president responsible for electric mobility at Scania.
