Iveco: a new range for the energy transition

With a completely renewed range, from 3.5 tonnes to 44 tonnes, Iveco France enters 2024 with a complete offer for the energy transition.

1 billion euros! this is the amount invested by the Iveco Group in the complete renewal of its vehicle ranges, from 3.5-tonne vans to 44-tonne tractors! a massive investment that should enable the group to tackle the energy transition with solid assets in hand. All the more so as the company has been active in low-carbon mobility for many years with its range of gas-powered vehicles, which has since been extended to include other alternative energies to diesel: HVO, electric and hydrogen.

That's what Stéphane Espinasse, the new President of Iveco France, had to say, referring in particular to the Group's results on the French market. We have 25 years' experience in decarbonated energy vehicles, with over 10,000 non-diesel units put on the road in France in 10 years," he said. We also have a strong LCV electromobility range, and HGVs are on the way," emphasizes Stéphane Espinasse.

New X-Way for construction sites

New cabs, new engines, new gearboxes... everything has been designed and (re)designed to improve driver comfort and vehicle performance. In the heavy-duty range, the Xway, for worksite applications, is equipped with a new xCursor 13 engine, new cabs, a new 12-speed gearbox, new drive axles and a new 9T front suspension (important in the case of cambering with a cab-back crane), with long-travel tires. It is available in HVO and biomethane,

Hydrogen

The new partnership with Hyundai will result in the development of a new electric LCV chassis cab this year, the largest contingent of which will be dedicated to the French market. An electric straight truck has also been announced for 2025. Hydrogen is also being developed as a solution, along with a fuel cell for electric HGVs. The first S-eWay Fuel Cells are due to be delivered this year to the Perrenot, Malherbe and Blondel groups, as well as to an Air Liquide supplier. The hydrogen combustion engine is also in the pipeline, as the Group has designed its new 13-liter Cursor engine, developed at its Bourbon-Lancy plant, to be compatible with all three energies: diesel, gas and hydrogen,

Each energy source has its own advantages and obstacles to overcome, whether electric, HVO or gas," says Clément Chandon. That's why we remain positioned on a total mix of energies for our vehicles: diesel, HVO, bio-GNC, bio-GNL, 2-electric, hydrogen PAC or hydrogen engine... It's up to our customers to choose the energy that suits them, and we'll take care of the rest," he concludes.
