Two very special MANs for Sorapel

Scop Sorapel, based in the Manche département, specializes in underground and overhead electrical network work. It has just added two MAN trucks to its fleet: a TGM 4X4 double cab and a TGS 6×6. The 430hp MAN TGS 6×6 BB CH has been specifically adapted for its particular application, transporting electricity poles. The cab was cut out, reinforced with a safety roll bar, and the right-hand rearview mirror was developed specifically to clear the pole loading area. "We needed a high-powered all-terrain vehicle specially adapted to our work on overhead electrical networks. The 430 hp MAN TGS and its specific configuration met our specifications. What's more, MAN is a well-known company with a strong reputation", said William Hermon, Equipment Fleet Manager at Sorapel. This MAN TGS 6×6 was then equipped by RISA, including the installation of a 100TA30 crane with a lifting capacity of 10 tons at 3 m, and a lifting capacity of 30 t/m.

The adaptation of the MAN TGS was carried out by MAN France's Centre de Transformations Techniques, CTT, based in Viriat in the Ain region. The CTT has recently developed a specific adaptation of the MAN OptiView integral camera rearview system for pole carriers with cutaway cabs, in order to improve performance and work safety, since the area cleared by the rearview cameras is much larger than with mirrors. This facilitates pole loading, reduces vibrations when driving on the road, and reduces blind spots. Several MAN OptiView vehicles with cutaway cabs are already in service with the EDF Group.

The 250hp MAN TGM 4×4 double cab is designed for transporting personnel and materials.

Sorapel specializes in overhead and underground electrical networks, street and sports lighting, the installation of electrical networks, water supply and lighting for housing estates, as well as the installation of charging infrastructures for electric vehicles.
