Vinci to dismantle Swedish nuclear power plant

Swedish energy giant Vattenfall has awarded Nuvia, a VINCI Construction subsidiary, the contract to dismantle units 1 and 2 of the Ringhals nuclear power plant in Sweden. Nuvia will be responsible for dismantling, monitoring and sorting all materials, including radioactive elements, present inside the buildings of the reactors concerned, i.e. over 30,000 tonnes of materialax to be processed. Work is scheduled to take place between 2025 and 203.

Located 60 km south of Göteborg, the Ringhals nuclear power plant has generated 220 TWh of electricity from its commissioning in 1976 until the final shutdown of unit 1 in 2020. Two other reactors, Ringhals 3 and 4, still provide around 12% of the country's total electricity production.
