Potain completes its range of luffing jib cranes

The latest generation of Potain luffing jib cranes is completed with the arrival of two new models: the MR309 and MR329. They follow the introduction of the MR229, which was the first luffing jib crane to be equipped with Potain CCS control and the Potain Connect telematics platform.
The new MR309 and MR329 have maximum lifting capacities of 16 or 25 tonnes. While both have a 60 m boom and a maximum tip capacity of 3.4 tonnes, their load curves and pivot heights are different, with pivot and mast configurations of 2 m or 2.45 m. For example, the MR 309, with its 2 m pivot and mast configuration, reaches a pivot height of 49.2 m and a maximum capacity of 4.3 t at 55 m. The MR 329, with a 2.45 m pivot and mast configuration, reaches a pivot height of 55.2 m, with a maximum capacity of 4.7 t at 55 m.
" We have received excellent feedback since the launch of the MR 229, in particular for its ease of assembly, its minimized out-of-service radius and the integration of CCS and its Potain CONNECT connectivity," said Thibaut Le Besnerais, Vice President of Marketing and Development at Manitowoc.
These new cranes have also been designed in response to customer feedback, which included requests for faster and simpler assembly. The boom can be assembled horizontally, section by section. Reduced out-of-service reach (only 9.5 m to 12 m) facilitates installation on tight jobsites. The counter-jib ballast is installed at ground level, and its positioning is facilitated by slinging rings and a self-centering system. A redesigned lifting mechanism further simplifies assembly, while an integrated basket at the end of the boom promotes safer installation, inspection and maintenance. Finally, thanks to Potain's CCS, which reduces calibration time, cranes can be put into service more quickly.
