Boels Rental acquires Riwal

Boels Rental acquires Riwal

Boels Rental, a major player in the rental sector, announces the forthcoming acquisition of Riwal, a European aerial work platform specialist. This major operation is part of Boels Rental's growth strategy, with sales of 1.55 billion euros in 2023, and a diversified fleet of over 860,000 items of equipment. Riwal generated sales of €310 million, with 65 branches in 14 countries, and almost 1,200 specialized employees.
Both companies hold strong positions in their respective markets. While Boels can draw on a European network with a presence in 18 countries, Riwal has a global presence with branches in India and Qatar, among others. This acquisition also opens the way to new markets such as Spain and France. Riwal's expertise in aerial work platforms adds a new dimension to Boels' range of products and services. Its fleet comprises over 20,000 pieces of equipment. In addition to the rental, maintenance and sale of aerial work platforms, telescopic handlers and forklift trucks, Riwal also sells spare parts, provides technical services and has its own training centers.

What's more, with over 60% of Riwal's fleet already electrified, this acquisition aligns with Boels' commitment to sustainable development. "With a combined fleet of over 55,000 pieces of electric equipment and additional expertise and services, we are sure to meet the highest customer standards. This enables us to provide unrivalled customer service to our customers," says Pierre Boels, CEO of Boels.

After this integration, Boels will be in a position to ensure significant growth and profitability thanks to an increased geographical presence and a solid generalist rental base, complemented by specialized rental divisions with a dense network in 27 countries and nearly 830 branches.

Completion of this acquisition is subject to the usual conditions, including approvals from the relevant competition authorities.
