VINCI Construction selected for renovation of Romainville-Bobigny waste treatment center

Syctom has awarded a consortium led by Chantiers Modernes Construction, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction, and Suez the contract to renovate the Romainville-Bobigny household waste treatment center in Seine-Saint-Denis. The total contract value is €237 million, of which approximately €208 million will be awarded to VINCI Construction.

Work will begin in March 2026 and last for 39 months. The project involves rebuilding the site with a new reception area and transfer station for household waste to energy recovery units, converting existing facilities into a bio-waste transfer center, and continuing to sort household packaging. The site will remain in operation throughout the construction period.

The program also includes the creation of a port platform connected to the Ourcq Canal, designed to transport more than 165,000 tons of waste per year by river, as well as a community recycling center. The aim is to reduce road traffic and the site's carbon footprint.

By 2029, the center will be able to handle up to 40,000 tons of bio-waste out of a total annual volume of 450,000 tons of waste processed, serving nearly 6 million residents. The project also includes environmental measures relating to pollution management, soil decontamination, and biodiversity preservation.
