The Port of Fos-sur-Mer invests in the energy transition

Christophe Castaner has been re-elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Marseille-Fos. The Supervisory Board determines the strategic decisions of the public establishment, in particular major investments. Indeed, the port has embarked on a strategy of far-reaching transformations, with very large-scale projects over the period 2025-2029, as part of the energy transition. "For the Port alone, this will represent 1.7 billion euros of investment over the next ten years. We are determined to reduce our environmental footprint by promoting sustainable practices and investing in innovative solutions for a successful energy transition, at the service of the region and of France," declares Christophe Castaner.

This project is built around 5 hubs. The "traffic & logistics" hub aims to enhance the fluidity and efficiency of goods traffic, through investments in port infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies. The "fuels&energy" hub offers a complete range of services to fuel all ships and carriers, depending on their engine or the maturity of their transition, as well as the production of green energy on site, to serve industrial port activities. The "industry hub" supports the transformation of historical industries. The "digital hub" offers digital services to customers to streamline and optimize activities (reducing lead times and costs). Last but not least, the Passenger Hub, with its carbon-free ferry and cruise lines, aims to increase passenger services tenfold, providing simple, green connections to other modes of transport.
