Metalliance to deliver 52 vehicles for Italian rail tunnels

Metalliance, a subsidiary of the Gaussin Group, has signed an order for 52 pieces of industrial equipment and mobile machinery for 4 rail tunnel construction sites in Italy. The order includes 31 70-tonne (70t) Trains on Pneumatic Tires (TSP), 7 ATEX TSP, 6 reconditioned TSP, 6 Multi-Service Vehicles (MSV) and 2 ATEX MSV, representing sales of nearly 38 M€. These rail tunnel construction projects in Italy are part of the Ten-T trans-European transport network, supported by the European Union. "Italy is an important market for us, where we have already had the opportunity to demonstrate our know-how, and for which we are expecting new tenders in the near future", declares Patrick Dubreuille, Metalliance's Managing Director.

The largest order is for the high-speed rail line between Naples and Bari, which the company knows well, having already won an order for 4 TSPs there last year. This time, Metalliance has won an order for 15 TSP 70t and 6 MSV for the creation of three double tunnels. An order for 10 TSP 70t has also been confirmed for a project to extend the Brenner tunnel in the Dolomite mountains. In addition, 6 TSP 70t and 6 TSP Retrofit will be used for tunnels on the link between Messina and Catania in Sicily. Retrofitting, i.e. re-using equipment, gives it a new lease of life.

The first vehicles are scheduled for delivery from January 2024 to the end of 2025.
