Holcim orders 1000 eActros 600 electric trucks

Building materials producer Holcim plans to add a total of 1,000 Mercedes-Benz Trucks battery-electric trucks to its European fleet. This is the largest order to date for the eActros 600. The majority of these electric trucks will be used with silo trailers to transport construction materials such as cement. The large battery capacity of over 600 KwH and a new electric drive axle, developed in-house, enable the truck to reach a range of 500 kilometers without intermediate charging.
"Holcim is advancing the transition to more sustainable and efficient transport by decarbonizing the logistics of our operations. We are delighted to partner with Mercedes-Benz Trucks to electrify our fleet, accelerating our goal of having 30% of our heavy truck purchases or contracts be zero-emission by 2030," says Miljan Gutovic, in charge of the Europe region for Holcim.

Series production is scheduled to start at the end of 2024. The Group is also announcing rigid variants of the eActros 600, to broaden the applications of all-electric vehicles. A fleet of some 50 prototype vehicles is currently under construction, some of which will undergo practical testing with the first customers in the next stage.
