In London, the world's first ever site for the MR229 tower crane

The Potain MR229 crane was installed on a building site in London for the first time. This luffing jib crane, designed for high-rise and confined worksites, is being deployed by the Radius Group as part of a project to build 476 new homes on London's Greenwich peninsula. With a maximum capacity of 14 tonnes, a boom tip capacity of 2.7 tonnes, and boom lengths ranging from 30 to 55 m, this MR229 also offers a short out-of-service radius of just 10 or 12 m, depending on boom length - an important feature for congested worksites. It can also be fitted with two new hoist winches: the 75HPL35 and the 100HPL35.
For this project on the Greenwich Peninsula, the MR229 was configured with a 50 m boom and 37.5 m hook height, and fitted with a 75HLP35 winch. Three other Potain MR 225 A cranes, also on site, were configured with 40 m jibs.

It's also the first luffing jib crane to feature Manitowoc's CCS operating system and Potain Connect telematics platform. With CCS, it takes just 15 minutes to configure the crane, calibrate the crane's motion sensors, and set the cart limit switch and boom length. By streamlining daily tasks, Potain Connect enables efficient fleet management and optimizes servicing and maintenance.

The Radius Group, a British rental company and long-standing Potain partner, handles all the logistics, assembly, operation and even dismantling of these cranes. One of the key advantages of the cranes chosen is that they can be assembled and disassembled from each other, facilitating assembly and disassembly operations. These four Potain cranes will remain in service until the 4th quarter of 2025, with delivery of the project scheduled for the end of 2027. Radius is also a partner of NFT, owner of the world's largest fleet of tower cranes, with over 3,000 units.
