With Safety Zone, Volvo Trucks controls speed in sensitive areas

Volvo Trucks introduces Safety Zones, a new connected service integrated into its Volvo Connect platform, enabling trucks to automatically limit their speed in predefined zones via geo-referencing. The aim is to enhance safety in sensitive environments such as city centers, ports or logistics hubs. The system adjusts the cruise control and automatically brakes if necessary, according to parameters defined by the fleet manager. Up to 300 zones can be assigned to each vehicle. "The aim of the service is to make road traffic safer and reduce driver stress. At Volvo, we are continually developing our safety systems to bring us closer to our long-term goal of zero accidents involving Volvo trucks," explains Johan Rundberg, Product Manager at Volvo Trucks.

The system will be available from June 2025 on FH, FM, FMX Euro 6 models and the electric range, including the new Volvo FM Low Entry, an all-electric truck particularly suited to urban areas.
