AC 5.250L-2: the 250-ton Tadano, long version

AC 5.250L-2: the 250-ton Tadano, long version

The new AC 5.250L-2 is the long jib variant of the 250-tonne Tadano mobile crane. It is equipped with a 79 m main boom, which can be extended to a maximum of 109 m. This makes the new crane particularly suitable for operations in urban environments, such as lifting air-conditioning systems over obstacles or assembling large tower cranes. Its maximum extension of 30 m gives a total reach of 109 m. Its automatic extension system from 5.8 to 30 m makes it easy to use.

Performance-wise, "in terms of load moment, our AC 5.250L-2 is also at the top of its class: it can reach 736 metric tons, making it one of the best on the market", stresses Peter Kleinhans, the project manager in charge. For the most demanding operations, optional heavy-duty lifting equipment enables up to 138.7 tonnes to be lifted using additional pulleys.

Equipped with a 10 x 6 transmission, it can operate on roads with 16-inch steel wheels, while respecting the 12-ton axle load limit. It also boasts optimized equipment: a 32-ton Vario claw hook, stabilizers under the 60-ton mark, as well as transport racks for extensions and up to 250 kg of equipment in its rear trunk.

Control system

"Thanks to the IC-1 Plus series crane control system, it is possible to significantly increase the available radius in certain areas of the slewing angle," emphasizes Peter Kleinhans. The IC-1 Plus control system maximizes load capacity depending on boom position and turret angle, even with partially deployed stabilizers or reduced counterweight. The optional Surround View system, with its six cameras, facilitates the positioning and deployment of outriggers, improving safety and maneuvering speed. The crane operator can view the exact position of the crane on the screen for optimum deployment.

The 530 HP Mercedes-Benz engine, HVO-compatible and Stage V-compliant, ensures economical operation thanks to its Eco mode and start/stop function.
