The latest addition to the Faymonville Group's wind transport range is a new adapter for wind turbine masts with a free rotation system. Mounted on a 4+7 self-steering trailer, this imposing combination is ideal for transporting mast segments with loads of up to 100 tons on winding routes. At the front, the vehicle consists of a 4-axle dolly with air suspension, which can be configured for 6×4 and 8×4 or 8×4 and 10×4 tractors. "For the first time, 10×4 tractors can be used for this type of mission. The different basic and tire variants make the concept extremely interesting for users," explains Faymonville Product Manager Rainer Noe. Once fitted, the two wind-turbine mast adapters can be connected to the mast segments in a 3- or 4-point support, without the need for an additional frame. The 7-axle self-steering trailer is now designed with hydraulic suspension. "We are the only supplier on the market to offer hydraulic suspension. This principle enables the self-steering trailer to be raised or lowered from one side only, which greatly increases the stability of the convoy in critical passages", explains Rainer Noe. When handling the adapter, the operator remains within the safety zone, thanks to the standard remote control, and benefits from a completely unobstructed view.
