Tunnel, metro, relaunch: Metalliance goes full throttle again

Bought out in July 2024 by the Corail-SM consortium, Metalliance, a SME specializing in tunnel-digging equipment, is embarking on a new phase of growth with major contracts, industrial relocation and a stated ambition: to once again become a key player in the sector in France and internationally.

Three major contracts to revive the machine

This relaunch got off to a flying start with three significant contracts for tunnel projects in Toulouse, Barcelona and Sicily, worth a total of almost 10 million euros. These orders confirm the upturn in business and the company's ability to rapidly reposition itself in demanding markets, in a highly competitive sector.

A clear, structured growth plan

Under the impetus of Corail-SM, Metalliance is targeting 50 million euros in orders by 2026. The year 2024 has already ended on a positive note, with sales of 16 million euros in just five months, and a return to profitability. The aim now is to achieve annual sales of 60 to 70 million euros within two years.

Strategic partnership and upcoming innovations

Corail Mobilité has taken over a large part of the fleet tractor equipment originally intended for Blydd, a Lyon-based player in the industrial electric vehicle sector. Following the termination of the contract between Blydd and Gaussin in June 2024, Corail Mobilité is now responsible for the production of new and retrofit vehicles, the supply of spare parts, and is currently developing its own model of logistics and port tractor.

Back to basics: heading for Montceau-les-Mines

The other major strategic turning point is the regrouping of all industrial activities on the Montceau-les-Mines site, in the former Terex factory. The move from Génelard (20 km away) has already begun, and all teams will be operational on site within a month. Assembly of new TBMs, retrofitting, mechanized welding, industrial logistics: all the company's skills will be concentrated on a single site, enabling gains in quality, costs and delivery times. The workforce, currently 150, could rise to 250 by 2026.

A powerful symbol for an industrial region seeking a renaissance

Beyond the industrial and commercial strategy, this relaunch has a human and emotional dimension. For Steve Filipov, returning to Montceau-les-Mines is much more than a logical choice: it's a deeply symbolic gesture.

"I'm very happy to see my old Terex premises come back to life with new products. It's a real honor to bring business and jobs back to Montceau-les-Mines"
