Green hydrogen producer Lhyfe has laid the foundation stone for a large-scale green hydrogen production site in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Located in Le Cheylas, on a 7,000 m2 plot of land, the project is deployed on the former waste storage site of steelmaker Ascométal. Initially planned to produce up to 2 t / day (5 MW), the site will eventually have a production capacity of 4 t / day (corresponding to an installed electrolysis capacity of 10 MW). Commissioning is scheduled for early 2026. It will be Lhyfe's largest site in France.
It will meet the demand of a particularly dynamic local market. This green hydrogen has two purposes: to decarbonize heavy and intensive transport (notably trucks, buses, etc.), and industry. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is at the forefront of the deployment of hydrogen for mobility, with the first projects launched as early as 2017.
Lhyfe has signed a ten-year sales contract with HYmpulsion to supply its hydrogen stations located in the Alpine arc as a priority, with a volume of 600 tonnes per year (i.e. around 1.6 t / day) over a total period of 10 years. 6 stations have already been inaugurated across the HYmpulsion network, with 7 others currently under construction.
" The favorable development of the ecosystem has enabled us to save time, as we are now installing the enhanced version of our website. We will now be meeting with the region's many manufacturers to discuss their needs," says Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe.
