Rhenus strengthens its position in river transport

Rhenus PartnerShip France opens its first chartering agency in the Rhône-Saône basin, in Chalon-sur-Saône. The company, which specializes in chartering and organizing transport on river basins, has just signed a partnership agreement with BFC Multi Modal, covering the river transport commission business previously operated by BFC Multi Modal. The two entities are thus combining their expertise to develop an alternative transport solution. This new Rhenus PartnerShip France branch completes the existing network in Uckange/Thionville, Kehl/Strasbourg, Dunkirk and Sens.
"Following the opening of a branch in Sens in 2016, we are continuing our expansion in the south of France. This move into the Rhône-Saône basin is a further step in our policy of covering all French river basins. It reinforces the strategy of the Rhenus Group, which is already present in the Rhine and Danube basins and their tributaries", announces Jean-Marc Thomas, Managing Director of Rhenus PartnerShip France.

BFC Multi Modal was created in 2021 and aims to create a port-multimodal "hub" between the three ports of Pagny, Chalon-sur-Saône and Macon, and to offer carbon-neutral logistics chains to regional companies by 2030.
