Over 10,000 tons on 300 lines!

Over 10,000 tons on 300 lines!

In China, three records were broken during the relocation of several historic buildings, the largest of which weighed over 10,000 tonnes and was over 43 m high. 300 SPMT Scheuerle lines were mobilized for this challenge!

The project involved relocating a group of 5 historic buildings from the Ningxia Saishang Jiangnan Museum in the north of the country, which had to make way for the flood plain of the Yellow River.

China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistic, a subsidiary of the state-owned shipping company China Ocean Shipping Group (Cosco), specializing in heavy-lift logistics and engineering, was entrusted with this delicate project. The buildings had to be relocated over a distance of 600 meters. The complex comprised the main building, weighing 10,000 tonnes, as well as two outbuildings, each weighing 2,000 tonnes, an arch and a bulkhead, each weighing 1,000 tonnes. To transport the main building, 43 meters high, 36.9 meters long and 31.5 meters wide, 300 SPMT axle lines from Scheuerle and ten PPUs, also from TII SCHEUERLE, were required. The heaviest transport weighed over 11,450 tonnes.

China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics set three records: the record for the highest and heaviest parcel transported in China, as well as the record for the longest distance covered in China by transporting a vessel weighing over 11450 tonnes. Finally, it was the steepest gradient ever crossed along a transport route.

Only a year ago, Sinotrans Heavy-Lift Co. moved a 7,500-tonne hotel using 254 SPMT axle lines. The uneven weight distribution of the 90-meter-long, 20-meter-high asymmetrical vessel was a major challenge on the 500-meter-long route. The triple record set by China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics replaced this feat!
