EDF has just awarded the Eiffage Group the civil engineering works for the first two EPR2 units at Penly, Normandy, worth over 4 billion euros. The contract covers the construction of two production units, including 69 structures.
It includes the construction of the 70 m-high, 50 m-diameter dome reactor enclosure and machine rooms, as well as the design-build construction of a six-storey, 15,000 m2 floor area operations building.
Preparatory work is scheduled to start in mid-2024.
This first civil engineering phase will require the mobilization of more than 4,000 people at the height of the project.
