An extra-heavyweight Arocs!

An extra-heavyweight Arocs!

A unique truck has emerged from the Mercedes-Benz Trucks conversion center in Molsheim. This Arocs SLT 4463 AS 8×6, which has just been delivered to Viktor Baumann GmbH, has been specially configured for heavy-duty transport and can tow a load of 1,000 tonnes. It will be used in particular to transport transformers and heat exchangers. This Arocs is also the only all-wheel-drive truck in the Arocs range to feature a wide cab. This retrofitted BigSpace cab allows two people to work on long missions. Mercedes-Benz Trucks distributor RKG TruckService, the Wörth plant and the CTT processing plant in Molsheim were all involved in the production of this vehicle. In fact, it was already equipped with a reinforced chassis and an adapted powertrain at the factory. In Molsheim, CTT's technicians created the technical conditions necessary for the retrofitting of a push-fit axle, front and rear heavy-duty couplings and a heavy-duty offset device. In order to exert greater pressure on the wheels and thus increase traction, Paul, a special vehicle manufacturer based in Lower Bavaria, fitted a ballast tray produced by Greiner. Finally, the Vilshofen-an-der-Donau team also carried out the complete transformation of the wide cab.
