EDF and Mammoet sign agreement to accelerate nuclear construction

At the World Nuclear Exhibition 2025 in Paris, EDF and Dutch lifting and heavy transport specialist Mammoet signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU ) to optimize the construction of future nuclear power plants.

This strategic agreement provides for close collaboration to develop innovative technologies and methods to increase the efficiency of nuclear worksites, notably as part of the nuclear construction program in the Netherlands supported by the Dutch government.

As global energy demand continues to grow, nuclear power is set to play a major role in the transition to carbon neutrality. To meet the 2030 and 2050 climate targets, however, construction projects will have to accelerate.

Thanks to its recognized expertise in modular construction and state-of-the-art equipment such as the SK6000 overland crane, the most powerful in the world, and its fleet of electric modular transporters (SPMT), Mammoet aims to cut lead times while limiting the environmental footprint of construction sites.

"We're proud to be working directly with EDF to accelerate Europe's carbon-neutral energy transition," said Joost Goderie, CEO of Mammoet.

For his part, Vakisasai Ramany, EDF's senior vice-president in charge of international nuclear development, emphasized that this alliance will make it possible to " combine the expertise of Europe's leading nuclear operator with that of the world leader in industrial lifting, in order to gain in efficiency and lay the foundations for the future Dutch nuclear program".

Mammoet is already working with EDF on several major projects, including Hinkley Point C in the UK, where its technologies have been used to install key reactor components.
