Liebherr cranes at work for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy

Nine Liebherr tower cranes are involved in the construction of two major Olympic venues in Predazzo and Milan. The equipment, supplied by distributor Niederstätter AG, plays a key role in ensuring that the sports infrastructure for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games is built on time.

With the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics just a few months away, construction sites in northern Italy are in full swing. At two emblematic sites, the Centro del Salto in Predazzo, Trentino, and theARENA MILANO, in the heart of the Lombardy capital, Liebherr cranes stand as symbols of efficiency and reliability.

Predazzo: Alpine tradition and cutting-edge technology

In Predazzo, Val di Fiemme, the famous ski jumping venue is being transformed to host the ski jumping and Nordic combined events. Covering an area of around 30,000 m², the future Centro del Salto will include two competition jumps, training facilities and infrastructure dedicated to athletes, officials and the media.
To meet the logistical challenges of alpine terrain, several Liebherr crane models are being mobilized: the 340 EC-B, 370 EC-B 12 Fibre and 550 EC-H. Thanks to their high lifting capacity and precise control, these cranes ensure safe and smooth operations in a demanding mountain environment.

Milan: a state-of-the-art arena for ice hockey

In Milan, Liebherr cranes are involved in the construction of theARENA MILANO, the future flagship venue for ice hockey competitions. Six cranes, including models 340 EC-B, 370 EC-B 12 Fibre, 280 EC-H, two 205 EC-B and one 285 EC-B, are operating on this site where space is particularly limited.
Their compact design and power make them ideal allies for this complex urban project, designed to offer athletes and spectators a state-of-the-art sports facility.

A shared passion for construction and sport

For Manuel Niederstätter, representative of Niederstätter AG, participating in such projects is a source of pride:

"We're proud to collaborate with companies capable of bringing projects of this scale to fruition. Beyond construction, we help create places that tell stories and bring people together."

For her part, Daniela Niederstätter underlines the quality of the partnership with Liebherr:

"Thanks to our experience, cutting-edge technology and service-oriented approach, we guarantee maximum efficiency on such demanding worksites."
