Scania is strengthening its position in the French 3,000-quarry and mining market with its G 500 model, designed to offer a more economical and ecological solution to traditional dumpers. Over a five-week period, the G 500 was presented to targeted operators during demonstrations in real operating conditions. Available in 8×4 and 10×4/6 configurations, this vehicle boasts fuel consumption averaging less than 10 l/h, enabling a significant reduction in CO2 emissions (up to -70%).
With its 500hp Super 13-liter engine and Opticruise G33H automated gearbox, the G 500 combines power with low operating costs. These chassis feature reinforced axles and axles. Front axle load capacity is 2x11t for the 8X4 and 3X11t for the 10X4/6 version. The rear axles have a load capacity of 19 t each. They allow up to 40 t of payload for the 8X4 or 46 t for the 10X4/6. Scania has specially adapted these vehicles for quarry work, based on its modular system.
The Scania G 500 8×4 and 10×4/6 rigids are equipped with a standard XT approach cab offering high driving comfort. The cab's soundproofing also reduces fatigue. By the end of 2025, they will be approved for road use. This will make life easier for our customers," explains Philipe Rousseau. They will be able to take advantage of Scania's network in France (104 sites) to have their G 500 serviced, without having to use a carrier."
