Enercon Logistic has strengthened its fleet with the acquisition of three RBTS rotor blade transport systems from TII Scheuerle. This solution proved its worth on an initial, complex 50 km run, thanks in particular to its directional dolly and free rotation system. It combined a 2-axle fifth-wheel front end (jeep dolly), a free-spinning device with root adapter and a four-axle follower. "The drivers had to back up a narrow farm road to bring the 65-meter-long rotor blade to the construction site," explains Tino Hülsmeyer, fleet manager at ENERCON Logistic. A subsidiary of the Enercon Group, ENERCON Logistic plans and coordinates all the wind turbine manufacturer's component shipments, some of which are carried out by its own teams and vehicles.
"Advantages such as transverse displacement using the offset shoe at the front of the dolly are unique on the market. This enables us to move blades whose center of gravity is not centered without any problems. In addition, TII SCHEUERLE was one of the few companies able to supply us with a gyrostatic transport table. This absorbs the torsions exerted on the blade during travel, and protects the load," adds Tino Hülsmeyer.
In addition to its dynamic qualities, the RBTS offers an economic advantage: its design allows it to be returned empty without special authorization, thus reducing costs and administrative constraints. With this investment, Enercon Logistics is ready for future blades. It has already successfully transported 75-meter blades.
