Rental, distribution, handling: a mixed picture in 2024

The year 2024 was very diverse, depending on the sector. That's what the DLR federation has observed, when it drew up the economic balance sheet for the companies in its sectors: rental, distribution and handling. Equipment rental posted growth of 2%, materials handling equipment distribution and rental rose by 2.9%, while construction equipment distribution suffered a 13% drop.

Sales by distribution companies reached 6.1 billion euros in 2024, down by almost a billion euros on 2023, when the sector's activity had reached an all-time high.
At 5.71 billion euros, rental sales continue to grow, and the outlook for 2025 remains positive.

Sales of handling equipment (distribution-rental) exceeded 2.6 billion euros. Despite relatively low growth for the sector, materials handling sales will reach a new all-time high in 2024, after topping the 2 billion euro mark for the first time in 2021.
