A Liebherr 340 EC-B 16 tower crane was mobilized for the construction of an observation tower in Germany. With a hook height of 57.5 meters and a span of 40 meters, it was used to assemble the steel elements, including the 12.5-ton crowns of the future elevator shaft. A total of 2,560 steel parts and over 22,300 screws were required for this 452-tonne construction.
To erect this iconic structure, it had to overcome numerous technical challenges, including difficult site access, which required very precise planning and execution.
The 70-metre-high observation tower offers panoramic views of the Harz mountains. Located on the "Harzer Hexenstieg" hiking trail, it features an interactive exhibition to transport visitors into the fascinating world of witches and myths.
