Volvo Trucks France reached a major milestone last December: the assembly of the 1,000th electric truck at the Blainville-sur-Orne plant. This battery-powered Volvo FE 6X2 is destined for the Mineris Group. It is part of an order for seven electric trucks equipped with tipper cranes, destined for household glass collection in the Lyon area. They benefit from technical adaptations (such as an adjusted wheelbase and a repositioning of the batteries) carried out at the Adaptations Center at Volvo's Blainville plant. "Urban waste collection requires very precise specifications, not only for crane handling and container lifting, but also for operating in narrow streets", explains Guillaume Leheudé, Mineris Technical Department Manager.
Since 2020, the Blainville-sur-Orne plant in Normandy has been assembling Volvo FE and FL electric trucks, alongside diesel and gas models. Today, it produces 66 trucks of all the Group's brands every day, as well as 220 cabs. It is preparing for the gradual ramp-up of electric production. "The electrification of freight transport is gathering pace, and we're delighted to count the Mineris Group among the 97 transport companies that have placed their trust in us. By 2024, an additional 100 Volvo Trucks electric trucks will have been registered in France," says Jérôme Flassayer, Director of Electromobility at Volvo Trucks France.
