Evolis, the trade organization that brings together over 600 capital goods and industrial solutions companies, has shared its growth estimates for 2025. After a downturn in 2024, which varied according to sector, sales are expected to stabilize at around 21 billion euros. In 2024, the industrial handling and lifting sector continued to grow (+2.1%), while the building and civil engineering sector fell by 7.9% (in line with the crisis in the construction industry), and machinery and solutions for industrial production also slowed (-2.1%). While this is not a time for euphoria, it is not a time for doom and gloom either, since the industry is forecasting stability by 2025.
This "optimism" can be explained by a number of factors: the recovery of a number of customer sectors that are crucial to the industry's activity (aeronautics, nuclear, automotive, defense, agri-food, etc.), a base effect in some market segments after having reached a relatively low level in 2024, and an extension in the lifespan of equipment in anticipation of renewals, which is supporting demand for spare parts, components, consumables and after-sales services that will sustain manufacturers' sales.
Warning points
This relative optimism should not obscure the warning signs that remain. Productive investment by French companies is likely to fall more sharply in 2025. Industrial capacity utilization rates remain below their long-term average. International competition is stronger, with Asian economies in particular penetrating the market. Finally, weak domestic consumption limits outlets and discourages new projects.
For Evolis companies, several actions could have a leverage effect on growth in 2025. International development should enable us to find more favorable economies. French and European political stability will enable us to validate large-scale projects on the future of energy in Europe. The development of defense, energy and green mobility projects, as well as the recovery of the automotive sector and the continued development of nuclear power, could bolster business.
The 600 Evolis companies (90% SMBs) employ 86,000 people and export 57% of their sales.
