Mobile cranes: slight drop in production costs

The Union Française du Levage has published the mobile crane cost index for the 2nd quarter of 2024. The index fell by 2%, from 125.43 in Q1 to 122.87 in Q2. This was mainly due to a fall in the cost of depreciation of the fleet, a decline in the cost of commercial diesel fuel, and a fall in the cost of financing the fleet (bank lending rates having fallen slightly). On the other hand, labor costs rose by 1.2% over the period.
Despite this slight fall, production costs are still higher than in 2020, the base year. As a reminder, in 2023, the cost price index was 123.86, up 23.86% on 2020 and +5.33% on 2022.
