Sarens took part in the creation of a new quay area at the river port of Limburg (Belgium) with the assembly of two new river cranes. This new port infrastructure, part of the Genk Green Logistics complex, is intended to boost industrialization in the region, with new barge access to this vast complex, which covers some 250,000 m². Genk Green Logistics occupies the land vacated by Ford in 2014, which at the time employed over 14,000 people in the region.
To assemble these two river cranes, Sarens mobilized several of its cranes, including Liebherr LTM1150, LTM1300, LTM1350 and the Demag AC700. Work on the site posed significant challenges, particularly in terms of available space. We knew that space constraints were going to be one of the main limitations of this project," explains Luc De Meester, Project Manager at Sarens. However, thanks to the upstream preparation of project engineer Wietse Dockx and the execution of lifting supervisor Michel Kreikaard, we were able to comfortably meet the deadlines set by our customer."
