Transports Bogaert, based near Dunkirk, has opted for two electric Mercedes trucks. They handle container traffic between the port and the Décathlon depot in Lille. The eActros 300 tractor, with its 300 km range, is ideally suited to these regular routes, of around 100 km each way.
What's more, drivers appreciate its driving comfort: "No noise, an incredibly smooth ride, only two gears, it's a pleasure to drive," says Julien Devalckenaere, the driver of one of these two 100% electric eActros. After a round-trip from Dunkirk to Lille, he uses his compulsory break to top up the charge on his Mercedes, and for the rest of the day, he coasters containers in the port of Dunkirk or does another "Décathlon tour".
The eActros 300 tractor is derived from the forwarder of the same name, which has been in production and on sale for just over two years. Featuring a 4-meter wheelbase, its rear axle - the eAxle - houses electric motors and a two-speed gearbox, leaving plenty of room for three NMC battery packs with a total capacity of 336 kWh.
