LTR1150, the new Liebherr telescopic crawler crane

Liebherr expands its range of crawler cranes with a new 150-ton model, the LTR1150, the first in this series to be equipped with the VarioBase system.

The LTR1150 comes between the LTR1100 and the LTR1220, and its strong point is the possibility of transporting it entirely on a 3.5 m wide low-loader, with a total weight of just 60 tonnes. As an option, it can even be transported with a width of just 3 m. New: the LTR 1150 crane is equipped with an automatic wedging system to assist the operator. As for the track supports, they have been designed for quicker and easier (un)mounting.

Its 52-meter telescopic boom can be complemented by a hydraulically-tilting, double-folding jib and telescopic boom extensions to reach lifting heights of up to 83 meters.

For the first time on a telescopic crawler crane, it features the VarioBase variable setting system, which determines the best possible load capacity in real time, based on the fixed track width and the variable rotation angle. Higher load capacities can thus be achieved for lifts over track angles, particularly in configurations with reduced track widths.

Thanks to its lifting capacities and "pick and carry" functions, this new LTR1150 crane is particularly well-suited to auxiliary assembly work on wind turbines. It is able to handle the assembly of crawler cranes up to the 1,000-tonne class, where components weighing over 60 tonnes need to be moved. The weights of wind turbine components, engine blocks and hubs, are in a similar range. The LTR 1150 can therefore not only unload these heavy components from the transport trailers, but also move them on site without any load restrictions.
