Will biofuels soon be available at the pump?

Last week, the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance brought together representatives of biofuel producers and consumers to discuss the development of these energies and the possibilities for accessing this resource. During the meeting, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the French Minister for Energy Transition, announced that the distribution of XTL diesel would be facilitated by lifting, during 2024, the restrictions currently limiting its sale to "captive" professional fleets with dedicated logistics and private tanks. As is the case in some of our European neighbors, XTL could then be freely available at service stations.
A new low-carbon fuel for non-road use, "GNR XTL", will also be created, to facilitate its use by agricultural and construction machinery. Agriculture, forestry and heavy construction machinery have been identified as priority sectors for long-term access to biomass fuels. Further meetings are scheduled over the coming months.
