Sarens mobilized over 400 experts of 28 nationalities and an impressive fleet of cranes, including the Liebherr LR12500-1.0 (capacity 2,500 tonnes), SPMTs with 224 axle lines and a barge to transport and install over 80 industrial modules, including the huge C2 and C3 furnaces and separators.
The year 2024 began with the movement of giant furnace modules over 60 metres high and 32 metres wide, weighing 7,700 tonnes, from the Zhi Yuan Kou ship to their final location, thanks to the meticulous coordination of Sarens SPMTs and cranes. The lifts of the C2 (700 tonnes, 60 m) and C3 (800 tonnes, 100 m) separators were the most complex operations of the year, demonstrating Sarens' expertise in handling extreme loads.
These installations bring the plant one step closer to full commissioning, supplying materials for the renewable energies, medical, construction and automotive industries. This makes INEOS Project ONE a real industrial powerhouse for Belgium and Europe. Sarens has taken major steps towards INEOS Project ONE, Europe's future ethylene flagship, located in the port of Antwerp. This colossal project, with an investment of over 3 billion euros, will be capable of producing 1.5 million tonnes of ethylene a year from the time it comes on stream in 2026, while generating over 3,000 jobs during construction and 450 permanent positions.
