Lhyfe inaugurates Germany's largest green hydrogen production facility

In Schwäbisch Gmünd (Baden-Württemberg), Lhyfe has just inaugurated its first commercial site in Germany, and the country's largest dedicated to the production of "bulk" green hydrogen. With an installed capacity of 10 MW, the unit can produce up to 4 tonnes of hydrogen per day, for use in heavy mobility and industry.

This one-hectare site, built in partnership with local authorities and supported by the European Union (ERDF) and the State of Baden-Württemberg, symbolizes the acceleration of regional decarbonization. The fully containerized plant covers the entire process: electrolysis, purification, compression and filling, enabling hydrogen to be delivered directly to customers via tube trailers.

In September 2025, Lhyfe Schwäbisch Gmünd obtained RFNBO certification, the European Union's most stringent standard, guaranteeing 100% renewable and traceable production. This label enables customers, mobility players and industry to benefit from European support mechanisms.

Already present in Germany since 2020, Lhyfe delivered its first customers in 2023 thanks to one of Europe's most efficient supply chains, with over 470 deliveries in 2024 and a 99% service rate.

With this fourth site, the first outside France, Lhyfe confirms its role as a European pioneer in green hydrogen, capable of supplying a growing network of players without the need for onsite installations.
