Mammoet moves beach pavilion to SPMT

Mammoet, commissioned by JLD Contracting BV, relocated the "Paal 17 Aan Zee" pavilion on the Dutch island of Texel. The move was carried out at the request of the authorities to free up space for dune growth, which is essential in combating coastal erosion.

The operation, prepared in just a few weeks, mobilized SPMTs to lift and translate the 23-meter wooden structure in just ten minutes, without deformation. A metal platform was first installed under the building, after disconnecting the networks, to prevent any bending of the structure. The Paal 17 Aan Zee pavilion was then lifted using two SPMT trains and moved forward by Mammoet's SPMT operator, onto the new beams, then placed in its new location. A new set of piles was installed upstream to anticipate future erosion.

This move marks a first in the Netherlands for this type of structure.
