Targeted training to optimize GMK5150L crane maintenance in isolated areas

At the Yaouré gold mine in Côte d'Ivoire, the Grove GMK5150L mobile crane is an indispensable auxiliary for maintenance operations on operating equipment. In order to gain greater autonomy on this isolated site, the mine's technical team benefited from in-depth on-site training, orchestrated by Manitowoc and delivered by Mirco Minoccheri, an independent trainer and experienced engineer. Over a two-week period, the technicians were trained in the crane's pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems, with a hands-on approach focused on resolving critical faults such as telescopic failures, braking warnings and the effects of humidity on sensors. At the end of the training, the team has a better command of diagnostics, without relying solely on error codes.

"This crane is indispensable for the mine, especially during shutdowns, as it enables the team to carry out repairs on all the installations. Any downtime can affect production, which is why it's essential to reduce these interruptions," emphasizes Mirco Minoccheri. Thanks to this increase in skills, the mine is able to respond more quickly to local constraints.
