The new Volvo FH Aero Electric for the long haul

The new FH Aero Electric, Volvo Trucks' 100% electric long-haul tractor, has a range of up to 600 km. It has been designed around an electric drive axle (e-axle) that frees up space for 8 batteries (up to 780 kWh). "This is a real technological breakthrough in zero-emission transport. Transport companies can now cover very long distances with electric trucks without compromising on productivity. The ultra-fast charging and high payload make this a very competitive solution," says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.

In 6×2 configuration with rear tandem, it reaches a GVWR of 48 t, while maintaining a payload close to that of a diesel, thanks to the presence of a rear tandem (6×2 axle configuration) which provides a better weight distribution, taking into account the weight of additional batteries in combination with heavy trailers.

Compatible with the MCS ultra-fast charging standard (up to 1 MW), it can recharge from 20% to 80% in just 40 minutes, i.e. during a regular driver's break. This vehicle will be available to order from Q2 2026, with support via Volvo Connect for energy optimization, route planning and fleet monitoring.
