With its new quadruple-expandable Super Wing Carrier XL (SWC-XL), Nooteboom unveils its new solution for transporting wind turbine blades up to 85 m long. This new generation of the "Super Wing Carrier" series includes several new technologies, such as Nooteboom's patented "blade-shaped box". This saves transport height behind the gooseneck, where the blade root is positioned.

A plateau of over 75 m
Due to the increasing weight of ever longer wind turbine blades, the front of the trailer is fitted with a 2-axle dolly suitable for an 8×4 tractor. The rear is designed with four lines of pendular axles. The loading bed can be extended in several stages to over 75 meters in length.
Stability was a crucial criterion in the design of this new model. To this end, the steering system has been integrated into the dolly chassis instead of the gooseneck. In addition, the extremely torsion-resistant chassis beams and the 2,840 mm wide rear axle provide additional stability.
The free-rotating dolly and the large 60-degree steering angle of the pendle axles keep the trailer maneuverable.

Another advantage of this new model is its ease of use and shorter loading and unloading times. Hydraulic support legs with remote control enable the loading bed to be extended quickly and easily. And thanks to the rolling load support, the trailer can be adapted to different blade lengths and support distances.
Prior to its market launch, the new model was tested by the international transport company Laso Transportes. After numerous successful transports with the new Super Wing Carrier XL, the Portuguese carrier will receive the second vehicle in April, just after its presentation at the Bauma show in Munich.
